Diagnostic Testing

For those in our community who already have symptoms of COVID-19, we are providing diagnostic tests that will determine if somebody already has the virus. The most-common symptoms of the virus are: cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, but can also include fever, chills, muscle pain, headache and sore throat.

The testing is quick and easy: a lab phlebotomist will swab the inside of your nose and you’ll find out the results within a few days.

The quicker people are diagnosed, the sooner they can be isolated from family members and friends, and reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

Antibody Testing

We are also going to be offering antibody blood tests, which show if people have had a previous infection with the virus. Antibodies are proteins that help fight off infections.

Testing negative for COVID-19 antibodies means you probably did not have a previous infection.

Testing positive for COVID-19 antibodies means you probably did have a previous coronavirus infection.

It’s unclear if those antibodies can protect you against getting infected again, but many people who contract the virus had mild or no symptoms, so this test helps confirm whether you had the virus previously.

It also helps show how prevalent COVID-19 is within our community.
